Our Story

CREATE, Inc. was founded by Gregory and Toyia Barnes, community activists and residents of Milledgeville, Georgia.

Initially, CREATE, Inc. operated under the moniker of Campus Club Milledgeville (CCM) and began its journey as a nonprofit 501c3 organization in 2009, originally as an extension of Campus Clubs, Inc. situated in Macon, Georgia. Its genesis lay in the vision of being a youth-focused initiative with a primary emphasis on arts-based education. By 2010, CCM had formalized its status as a distinct nonprofit entity. Over the years, CCM's mission grew to encompass the challenges that persisted across generations, leading to the development of highly effective strategies benefiting the residents of Middle Georgia, spanning Baldwin, Hancock, Putnam, Washington, Wilkinson, and Jones counties.

As CCM's mission continued to expand, reaching out to comprehensively impact BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) and low-income families, a significant transformation transpired. This transformation gave birth to the Center for Recreation, Education, Arts, Technology, & Enterprise (CREATE) Inc. in 2016. CREATE, Inc. is passionately dedicated to unlocking the abilities of young people and guiding them towards a better future by offering a mix of programs that cover recreation, education, arts, technology, and entrepreneurship.

At the heart of CREATE, Inc.'s approach lies the core principle of "Providing Innovative Solutions to Elevate Quality of Life." We prioritize fostering the practical development of skills, particularly through the application of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) and Outdoor Education principles. This educational methodology forms the foundation for pathways in entrepreneurship, "new collar" professions, and advanced education, all designed to cater to the needs of youth and young adults. CREATE, Inc. is committed to making a positive impact in Central Georgia and continuing to help young individuals succeed.
